DIY Garden Art: Create a Beaded Suncatcher for Your Denver Garden
Crafting with your kids is a wonderful way to spend quality time and create something beautiful for your Denver garden. One of my favorite things to do with my daughter during breaks is craft. I love working with my hands to create something new and apparently I passed that on to her as well.
So today we’re crafting a suncatcher for the garden using a variety of beads and some wire. Bonus - it’s great fine motor practice! This DIY beaded suncatcher project is perfect for enhancing your backyard garden with a splash of color and light.
Materials Needed:
Memory wire or pipe cleaners
Pliers, wire cutters, or scissors
Translucent beads, buttons, or other decorative items
Step-by-Step Guide to Making a Beaded Suncatcher:
Step 1: Prepare Your Wire
Cut a length of wire (around 3 feet) or attach several pipe cleaners together. This length will allow you to create a twirly suncatcher.
Step 2: Secure the End
Fold the end of the wire to prevent beads from slipping off. Adding a pendant at the end can be a fun and decorative touch.

Step 3: Add Beads
Thread beads onto the wire, leaving 4-6 inches at the end. Translucent beads work best for reflecting light, but feel free to use whatever beads you have. Adding bells can also introduce a delightful sound element to your garden.
Step 4: Finish the Suncatcher
Create a loop at the end of the wire to secure the beads. Wrapping the wire around a spool can help create a twirl effect. Hang your suncatcher in a sunny spot and enjoy the beautiful light reflections.
Step 5: Share Your Creation
After completing your suncatcher, share it on Instagram and tag @auntiemsgarden to showcase your work!
Additional Tips:
Use buttons on either side of the wire to hold the beads in place.
Get creative with items you have at home to personalize your suncatcher.
